CellAura acknowledges that the bottleneck in High Content Analysis is not the generation of high resolution images of fluorescently labelled cells and tissues, but is often the off-line analysis of the image collection to determine the effect(s) of a particular treatment. This is true whether the images are generated using CellAura’s fluorescent ligands, or using any other fluorescent label.
 
Furthermore, the variety of fluorescence imaging instrument vendors and platforms (eg PerkinElmer Opera and Operetta, Molecular Devices ImageXpress Micro and Ultra, Thermo-Fisher Cellomics ArrayScan VTI, GE Healthcare IN Cell 1000 and 2000, etc), each with their proprietary image format and analysis package, presents a complex landscape for consistency of image analysis across different hardware and software platforms.
 
A solution to this problem is to use a non-proprietary, open-source software package to allow images from all instrument platforms, regardless of file format, to be analysed consistently using the same analysis algorithm(s). The only requirements are an open source image analysis package, such as Image J (provided by the Research Services Branch of the NIH), a series of image file translators for each of the hardware platforms, and a series of analysis algorithms to perform typical analysis routines.
 
To address these hardware and software inconsistencies, CellAura have further developed the Image J software package to include additional in-built analysis macros suitable for analysis of the binding of CellAura’s fluorescent ligands. This is accompanied by an expanding library of image file format translators, to assist researchers and screeners to analyse their high content fluorescent images. The analysis macros developed by CellAura are also available as separate standalone downloads that can be imported into existing installations of Image J if required.
 
NOTE: These are currently beta-test versions of the analysis software and macros. We appreciate any feedback you are able to give us for these software packages. We are also aiming to add further file translators and analysis algoriths to this website.
